A balconazo unforgettable. Words libertarian. A cry for emancipation. On November 27, 1820, General José de San Martín, first proclaimed the independence of Peru in the bucolic Huaura villa on the outskirts of Colonial Lima.

Declared a National Historic Monument, called Huaura balcony is one of the most representative symbols of the independence movement, launched by San Martín and Simón Bolívar continued successfully for who would seal the freedom of the whole continent, with the triumph of his followers in the battle of Ayacucho in 1824.

The old house in which there is the balcony, was the headquarters of General San Martin for several months. At that time, the house was owned by the Duke of San Carlos. Later, in 1826, the property would go to the Peruvian state. Is now a museum and perhaps most precious heritage of the inhabitants of Huaura district (155 km. north of Lima).
